ABOUT OAKBROOKE

Our History

The Bus Ministry in 1958When you're a part of Oakbrooke, you're a part of history. The word of God reminds us: "Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set" (Proverbs 22:28). We value where God has brought us from as much as where He has brought us to. God has been faithful to us for more than 56 years.

Oakbrooke Bible Church began in 1954 as Calvary Baptist Church of Pontiac. For the first four years of our existence a faithful group of men and women met at the Waterford High School, then located at the corner of Highland Road (M-59) and Crescent Lake Roads in Waterford.

In 1958 ground was broken at our present location at the corner of Merry Street and Pontiac Lake Roads in Waterford. Within a few months the sanctuary was completed and the move was made from the high school to the new facility. Several years later an educational wing was added, followed by the Fellowship Hall with a full basement for additional educational space.

During our 56 year history the church has been led by five different pastors: Rev. Henry Wrobbel, Rev. Keith Knauss, Rev. Roger Creamer, Pastor Steve Lewis, and Pastor Paul Edwards.

The facilities underwent an extensive remodeling in 2010. We changed our name from Calvary Baptist Church to Oakbrooke Bible Church on Sunday, May 23, 2010.
